Zimbabwe: Teachers Want Their Cut of Diamond Trade

About 100 teachers protested outside Zimbabwe's parliament in Harare over pay on Tuesday July 24, cheering and waving posters as members of parliament looked on. Teachers say proceeds from diamond and mineral sales should be used to subsidize salaries for civil servants. The highest paid teachers in Zimbabwe take home around USD$300 per month.
