UK Police Prepare for More Violence

A massive policing operation is being mounted across England following a third night of rioting and looting. A 26-year-old man has become the first fatality of the disturbances. The victim died after being shot in his car in Croydon. The south London town was hit hard in last night's trouble. Almost simultaneously violence exploded in other parts of the capital such as Clapham and Peckham in south London, Ealing in the west, and Enfield in the north as the Metropolitan Police were swiftly overrun.
