Struggling with Autism in China

Autism is the number one mental illness in China, but there is little professional or governmental support for parents and caregivers of those with the illness. Families of autistic children are often shunned; they also carry an overwhelming financial burden in a country where special facilities for children with autism are rare. Man Xi, the father of an autistic daughter who struggles to pay for her treatment, says he feels "depressed and helpless," but doesn't want his daughter to be cast aside.
