Seven Rhinos Slaughtered in South Africa

Six adult rhinos and a four-month-old calf have been killed on a South African farm near Sun City. The deaths bring the number of rhinos killed this year alone to 558. The animals are slaughtered largely to serve traditional medicine markets in China and Vietnam, where many believe that their ground horns — which sell for as much as $65,000 each — have medicinal and aphrodisiac powers. A rhino is killed in Africa every 18 hours, reports the Telegraph.
