On February 21, Pussy Riot performed a "punk prayer" at Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior, exhorting the Virgin Mary to throw Vladimir Putin from power. Three members of the group were subsequently arrested on charges of "hooliganism fueled by religious hatred" and today each received a sentence of two years in jail, drawing both international condemnation and praise from some within Russia's Orthodox community.
