Protests Over Deadly Egyptian Football Riot Turn Violent

Supporters of Al-Ahly soccer club, political activists, and ordinary citizens gathered in Cairo today, angry over the handling of security at last night's soccer match in Port Said that descended into violence, leaving scores dead. They wanted to send a clear message to the authorities about who they held responsible for the tragic events. But, as the protestors neared Egypt's Interior Ministry building, police responded with tear gas, prompting yet more violence and reports of hundreds of injuries.
