Nigeria's President Faces Criticism After Islamist Attack Kills 180

Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has visited the scene of last week's carnage in which insurgents killed over 180 people. A coordinated series of bomb blasts and shooting sprees, mostly targeting police stations, shattered the country's second biggest city of Kano. The attacks have been claimed by the Islamist sect Boko Haram which is loosely modelled on Afghanistan's Taliban. Explosions also struck two churches in Bauchi on Sunday, completely destroying one, but no casualties were reported.
