It has been nearly impossible for anyone to see what life inside the Gaza Strip has been like under the rule of Hamas - until now. In 2006 and 2007, the rival Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah were engaged in a bloody war for control over Gaza, and Hamas took power by force. When the post-Mubarak government of Egypt decided to start letting small numbers of people into Gaza through the Rafah Crossing, the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the embattled Gaza Strip and life under the rule of Hamas finally presented itself.
