Ex-Moscow Top Cop Arrested for Journalist's Murder

A former Moscow police colonel has been arrested over the killing of journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Politkovskaya, a fierce critic of the then-president Vladimir Putin, was gunned down outside her home in 2006. Investigators have now accused Dmitry Pavlyuchenko of organizing her murder. Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said Pavlyuchenko "created the criminal group including three brothers Makhmudov and others. He ordered his inferiors to follow the journalist to discover her everyday route."
