Bo Xilai, a key powerbroker in China's Communist Party, has been sacked after his factional enemies seized on a local corruption scandal to remove him. His dismissal could be an important sign of the future trajectory of Chinese politics. He was the charismatic champion of those who wanted to install a traditional form of neo-Maoism in China, in opposition to those who want the country to move in a more liberal direction.
