Chile: Student Protesters Invade Senate

Student demonstrators in Chile took direct action in the Senate headquarters on Thursday, by forcing their way into the building in Santiago. They interrupted a a committee meeting and broadcast their demonstration live over the internet by webcam, calling for more people to come and join them. The protests for educational reform in Chile turned violent later on that night, as students clashed with police on the streets of the capital. Security was increased and water cannon used on the protesters. Authorities say 10 arrests were made.
