Champagne Cops Squeeze French Grape Thieves

French police patrolling Champagne vineyards round-the-clock are keeping sticky-fingered thieves from grabbing grapes. Winemakers believe 2012 could be a vintage year for Champagne just as poor growing conditions this year have kept the yield low, drivng fruit prices up to $8 a kilogram. Harvesters sometimes hand off the pickings for pay, or thieves move in at night.
