Our Al Jazeera correspondent in Libya confirmed that 14 people were killed and 80 others were injured in clashes between armed groups in the western Libyan city of Zuwarah. The shelling between armed groups in the western cities of Zuwarah and Ragdalein was renewed for the third consecutive day. They used mortars and anti-aircraft missiles. This comes after a border guard unit was kidnapped by gunmen from the city of al-Jumail.

Reporter, Male #2
After the Sabha crisis, the clashes this time are in western Libya. They started after a border guard unit was kidnapped by armed men from the city of Jumail, an incident with conflicting narratives. Some believe this operation is the result of the tension between different tribes in Libya, while others assure that Zuwarah's rebels entered an area they had agreed not to go into.

Guest, Male #3 (Atef al-Idrisi, Commander of Kidnapped Unit in Libya)
The Defense Ministry assigned us to be border guards. We represent the state; we didn't assign ourselves.

Guest, Male #4 (Khalifa Kail, National Transitional Council Member in Jumail)
We have no doubt they are rebels; they are the rebels of Zuwarah. But on their way back to Nalut, they attacked some people in an area called Bishoul in the southern part of al-Jumail.

Reporter, Male #2
In the second scene of this story, these conditions lead to other discussions. The residents of Zuwarah say it is oil that is fueling their conflict with their neighbors. They believe stability will not be achieved unless wanted men are handed over, and the damage they endured during Gaddafi's rule is redressed. They say Gaddafi deprived them of their historical rights and seized their land.

Guest, Male #5 (Hafiz Bansasi, Zuwarah Local Council Member)
These are all the conditions of the February 17 rebels in Libya. As we mentioned in these four points, we do retreat from these demands, and they are considered a red line for the February 17 rebels.

Reporter, Male #2
The demands reached the transitional government that rushed to Zuwarah to calm the situation, hoping to win some time to solve these crises. Crises that are placing doubt on the government's ability to carry Libya to safe shores.

Guest, Male #6 (Nasser al-Manea, Libyan Transitional Government Spokesman)
The ceasefire we agreed to is the beginning, and this ceasefire will not be maintained unless we deal with the reasons behind the clashes.

Reporter, Male #2
All parties admit the ceasefire is fragile, and requires more concessions. Some say the current situation in Libya is not helpful to reaching a compromise.</media:text>

During a visit to the southern city of Sabha, Libyan Interim Prime Minister Abdurrahim el-Keib said his government has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the tribal and ethnically-charged fighting that erupted in the city.

Reporter, Male #2
The Libyan government is seeking to restore calm to the city of Sabha in the middle of the Libyan desert. The city witnessed bloody confrontations a few days ago over tribal issues of special interest to the region. The Libyan prime minister arrived to Sabha to help put an end to the ethnic conflict raging among the desert tribes. The recent political and tribal solutions, as well as the deployment of the Libyan army, have helped dee-scalate the conflict in the city. A spokesman for the Tabu tribe said that nearly 70 of the tribe's homes had been torched and dozens of families were forced to flee. The government held a conference for the local leaders in a bid to reunite the residents and erase the effects of a war that left behind hundreds of dead and injured.

Guest, Male #3, (Abdurrahim el-Keib, Libyan Interim Prime Minister)
The assault on the lives and properties of citizens, regardless of their tribal and ethnic origin, is a violation of the law and the government will not tolerate such acts.

Reporter, Male #2
As the Sabha crisis nears its end, the security situation remains fragile across various Libyan regions, especially amid the incomplete efforts to restructure the new Libyan state. In addition, more talks are still underway to help bring additional revolutionary leaders on board.

Guest, Male #4, (Fawzi Abdelaal, Libyan Interior Minister)
Nearly 50,000 revolutionaries have been integrated into the Ministry of Interior. Future sessions will focus on various issues related to security and anti-rioting support, and counterterrorism.

Reporter, Male #2
The Libyan Ministry of Interior is seeking to integrate more members of the revolution in its various security agencies. While keeping them outside the governing body poses concerns, integrating them gives the government's efforts an additional boost.

Presenter, Female #1
Joining us from Sabha is Sheikh Sha'aban al-Imyani, a member of the Libyan Council of Elders. Sheikh Sha'aban, a state of calm is dominating the scene in Sabha. So how can we guarantee that it will continue to hold, especially considering that tribal tension is still there?

Guest, Male #5 (Sheikh Sha'aban al-Imyani, Libyan Council of Elders Member)
In the name of God. May peace, God's mercy, and blessings be upon you! Thank God, we have arrived safely to shore. I would like to thank our brothers in Sabha, including the elders, wise men, and the military leaders and revolutionaries. We were able to broker a reconciliation deal among them, and God willing, this will end the hostilities. We are in the process of implementing this deal, which calls for a ceasefire. A ceasefire is in effect, thank God, and life has returned to normal. We are now working with both sides to free the detainees. We divided ourselves into two groups. One group stayed in Sabha, and the other one headed to Mirzaq, led by brother Salah and Mohamed Mubasher. Other brothers from the reconciliation committee, led by a team of elders and wise men, are also on board. The situation is going well, God willing.</media:text>

But a spokesman for the fugitive Libyan leader says forces with the new government have killed over 100 people while trying to capture Sirte, though there was no independent confirmation of this. Our al-Jazeera correspondent quoted the revolutionaries' sources saying they have seized control of most parts of Sabha, including the city's airport and the main Qala'a landmark.

Presenter, Female #1
Our correspondent said the revolutionaries are facing pockets of fierce resistance in the city and added that ten rebel fighters were killed during the operation. In addition, several members of Gaddafi's battalions were captured.

Presenter, Male #1
The revolutionaries also gained control of the eastern, southern, and western entrances of the city of Sirte.

Presenter, Female #1
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who remains in hiding, described the events unfolding in Libya as a "mockery." In an audiotape aired today, Gaddafi called on Libyans not to believe the news about the downfall of the regime.

Reporter, Female #2
"It's a difficult and dangerous battle in the cities representing Gaddafi's last strongholds." This is how the revolutionaries are describing the battles raging for control of the three cities remaining in Gaddafi's power. However, the promises of victory seem to be getting closer day by day. One thing is certain, that the revolutionaries gained control of the eastern, southern, and western entrances of the coastal city of Sirte. Here in Sirte, following the shelling of Gaddafi's battalions, the revolutionaries are listening to an audio message aired by NATO calling on Gaddafi fighters to surrender. The revolutionaries, who are mostly from Misurata and a few from Benghazi, are massing in preparation for the battle of Sirte, following their takeover of the city of Sultan nearly 40 kilometers east of Sirte. In southwestern Libya, the revolutionaries seized control of most parts of the city of Sabha, including the airport and the area of Qala'a, as confirmed by the Libyan military council's spokesman. The revolutionaries are cautiously advancing on the Bani Walid front in an attempt to spare bloodshed. The fierce battles are raging between the revolutionaries and Gaddafi's supporters in the city of Bani Walid. The area's steep and hilly terrain is helping Gaddafi fighters infiltrate the city. The decision to withdraw was made in consultation with rebel leaders in a bid to re-launch the attack. Meanwhile, the revolutionaries are continuing to pursue Gaddafi's supporters. Gaddafi's intelligence chief, Brigadier Bil Qassem al-Ab'aj, was captured in the area of Kufra, between Sabha and Um al-Araneb, as he was travelling with his family and aides onboard five four-wheel drive vehicles. Sources affiliated with the Desert Shield battalion in Benghazi said that more than 300 Gaddafi mercenaries have fled, and that ambushes were being set up to capture them. While the battles continue to rage across various Libyan fronts, the residents of some territories, such as Sirte, are enduring miserable living conditions. Many are living without water, electricity, or fuel. Some residents in southern Libya are forced to cross the desert to take their injured to Benghazi, and are making the 2,500 kilometer journey under harsh conditions. </media:text>

Sources for revolutionaries in Libya said violent clashes broke out with the remaining Gaddafi battalions in the city of Sabha, which is mostly under the control of the revolutionaries. The sources added the battalions used rocket launchers to shell the neighborhood of al- Qarda, leading to the killing of three revolutionaries and the injury of ten.

Presenter, Male #1
On the other hand, the revolutionaries announced to have made tangible progress in a number of battlefronts in their advance toward the city of Sirte, al-Gaddafi's final stronghold. According to the same sources, the revolutionaries are 30 kilometers closer to Sirte in the west and about 100 kilometers in the east.

Reporter, Male #2
The advance towards Sirte, Gaddafi's final stronghold in northern Libya, will likely be decisive this time. Seesaw battles are no longer dominant after the achievements on the ground and the acquisition of additional heavy weaponry stored in Gaddafi's arsenals. Some of these weapons made a difference in the battle as artillery shells were replaced with anti-aircraft weaponry and medium rocket launchers. The Libyan revolutionaries are gathering additional equipment and fighters to advance towards Sirte. However, they say they would prefer to peacefully enter the city without additional bloodshed.

Guest, Male #3
It's our family, they are Libyan, so we don't waste more blood. It's enough.

Reporter, Male #2
The advance to Sirte and the attempt to encircle the city from the east and the west, while slow, coincided with NATO's shelling of additional targets there. The National Transitional Council issued a statement urging NATO to continue its operations, considering that Gaddafi is not finished yet and still poses a threat. Meanwhile, reports indicate that NATO is using extremely advanced US technology to determine the precise location of Gaddafi's hideout. As of right now, those taken prisoner by revolutionaries on the ground are referred to as the remnants of the regime, such as this man captured outside the conflict zone. People coming out of Sirte and its neighboring areas talk about the people's fear of a confrontation if efforts to peacefully take over the city fail.

Presenter, Female #1
Human Rights Watch said there is evidence indicating a battalion led by Khamis, the son of Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi, is responsible for executing dozens of detainees in a warehouse south of the Libyan capital Tripoli on August 23. The rights organization indicated that the warehouse was set on fire three days after the executions. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The organization further explained that it inspected about 45 burned bodies in the warehouse on Saturday and found two more unburned bodies.</media:text>
