<media:text>New figures show the recession brought on by the 2007 financial crisis has wiped out two decades of wealth for the average U.S. household. According to the Federal Reserve, the median U.S. family's net worth declined nearly 40 percent by 2010 to $77,300, roughly the same level it was in 1992. Middle-income families saw the largest decline in wealth. The collapse of the housing market played a key role, with home values dropping 42 percent between 2007 and 2010.

<media:text>The EU bailout of Spain's banks may have brought some relief to Madrid and eurozone leaders, but for those struggling to find work in the country the outlook remains grim. At more than 24 percent Spain's unemployment rate is the highest in the eurozone and there is little sign of an improvement anytime soon. One man queuing at a benefits office in Madrid evoked the impact of the crisis on many of Spain's jobseekers. "I'm not optimistic. Every day I see it getting worse. I'm unemployed, with two children, separated (from my wife), I can't pay them maintenance pension. I'm partially disabled and the companies exploit us very badly." The government is pushing ahead with cutbacks and reforms that some fear will only worsen the situation, reflecting a wider austerity versus stimulus debate across Europe. </media:text>

In the Middle East region, which still witnesses fluctuating political and security mobilization further undermining stability, security concerns are increasing, especially in areas witnessing tension. According to knowledgeable sources, these developments require a serious, consensual evaluation among the countries of the region, in order to help bridge the gap and solve all existing crises. Ibrahim Khalil Kharbal reports.

Reporter, Male #2
The most tense area of the world, the Middle East, endured more than ten wars in the last century, the most intense of them being the Arab-Israeli conflict, along with the disagreements and peace treaties that followed. This is in addition to the conflict of interest among the people of the same region, and the greed of the superpowers in other cases.

Reporter, Male #2
In Syria and neighboring Lebanon, there are hopes for the situation to be resolved on one side, and fears that the situation will continue to deteriorate on the other. Each of those countries plays an important regional, political, and economic role. Syria is the center of economic growth in the Levant region, linked by routes between Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan and the Mediterranean. However, indicators of commercial trade showed a large recession since the Syrian crisis began nearly a year ago. This was also seen during the tension that reached Lebanon, and returned the feeling of insecurity, as well as the unannounced spread of arms leading to tensions between the authorities and factions of the opposition.

Reporter, Male #2
Meanwhile, tensions in the Kingdom of Bahrain have entered the second year. This explains the Gulf countries' rush to intervene, as the Gulf Cooperation Council views itself as the protestor at the forefront of the eastern region. As for Yemen, it is no longer a happy Arab country after the political and security turmoil that Yemenis lived through over the past several months. It is difficult to expect calm in the foreseeable future in the region, and for as long as the Middle East remains an oil-rich region. It is also difficult to contain these ongoing issues across the Middle East, which may require serious reviewing in all of these unsolved and interrelated issues.</media:text>

<media:text>Voters said the economic downturn would be a major consideration ahead of Denmark's general elections on Thursday. The Liberal-Conservative coalition of Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen has been in power for a decade. "Lokke" as he's known to Danes admits that voters are in the mood for "new faces". Danish media reports that the so-called "red-bloc" of left-leaning parties is ahead in the polls. <media:text>The world's financial markets remain extremely volatile with investors sending a message to politicians worldwide that they are not doing enough to address the problems threatening the global economic recovery. The downgrade of the United States' credit rating on Friday by Standard & Poor's reignited fears the world's biggest economy could slip into recession again, and there was a big sell off of European shares by the early afternoon, despite the fact the European Central Bank was buying Spanish and Italian government bonds to try to stop the European debt crisis spreading, perhaps limiting damage in Madrid and Milan.</media:text>
