<media:text>A top Iranian official calls on the P5+1 countries to recognize Iran's right to peaceful nuclear technology. The adviser to Iran's leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, says Iran has always lived up to its nuclear commitments. He says the talks will lead nowhere if the West fails to recognize Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy, insisting that Iran will remain committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but will never abandon its rights.

<media:text>Words of support for Iran's development of nuclear technology came in a statement by the NAM representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors. They say they are concerned that IAEA has failed to provide Iran with documents regarding their alleged studies, which the West says support its claims that Iran has conducted studies on developing nuclear weapons. Iran has questioned the authenticity of the documents, insisting its program is purely civilian.</media:text>

<media:text>Former chief inspector of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the IAEA, has rejected the agency's reports on Iran's nuclear program as "unsubstantiated" and "biased." Robert Kelley says the IAEA's most recent report, released last November, was shocking because it contained inaccurate and out-of-date information. The report accused Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons. Kelly added that some data provided in the November report had been forged, like the fake documents released about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction before the 2003 invasion of the country.</media:text>

<media:text>Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency has once again denied allegations that Tehran is pursuing nuclear weapons. Dr. Ali Asghar Soltanieh also described recent allegations of nuclear activity at a military site in the capital Tehran as "ridiculous." Dr. Soltanieh called on the UN Security Council to condemn recent threats of military action against Iran's nuclear facilities by Israel. He accused Tel Aviv of violating the UN charter.

The 120 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, otherwise known as NAM, has once again voiced support for Iran's right to nuclear technology. The NAM statement stresses resolving Iran's nuclear issue through diplomacy and dialogue without any preconditions. NAM has also called on countries who claim to have evidence of possible militarization of Iran's nuclear program to present their findings.

In Vienna, the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran is not being open about its nuclear program. This, as the UN's nuclear watchdog today resumed debate over suspected nuclear weapon sites in Iran. The agenda of the IAEA's weeklong quarterly meeting was again dominated by Iran's disputed nuclear program. Agency head Yukiya Amano told CNN that there is great concern over undeclared facilities in the Islamic republic.

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have agreed to a joint statement on the issue, with Russia notably participating in the isolation of Iran. European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced the P5+1's acceptance of Iran's written agreement to reopen serious negotiations with the West, which could begin as early as next month.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still holds out hope that a military strike will not be needed in order to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, arguing that Iran can be deterred from developing nukes when they realize they face a credible threat from the military option, which paradoxically could eliminate the need for a military option.</media:text>

Meanwhile, Iran has once again called for global nuclear disarmament. Speaking at a UN-sponsored conference on nuclear disarmament in Geneva, Iran's foreign minister said some 23,000 nuclear warheads stockpiled by a few countries pose the gravest threat to world peace and security. Salehi said nuclear arms have no place in an international community oriented towards lasting peace and security. Ali Akbar Salehi said that "double standard towards the issue of nuclear energy seriously threatens the nuclear nonproliferation treaty," or the NPT. Salehi argued that nuclear energy is not nuclear weapons, saying the rights of nations to peaceful nuclear technology should be seriously taken into consideration.
