<title>Revealed: Strange Truth Behind Israel's Mysterious Prisoner X</title>
        <link>http://news.linktv.org/videos/revealed-strange-truth-behind-israels-mysterious-prisoner-x?start=0</link>
<description>In a painstaking investigation, this report amassed compelling evidence to finally uncover the identity of Prisoner X, sending shock-waves around the world when it broke the story. A unique insight to the case. In early 2010 a man was escorted to arguably the most secure prison cell in Israel. The guards taking him there had no idea who he was or what he'd done. &quot; It is simply a person without a name and without an identity who is placed in complete and absolute isolation from the outside world. There is confidentiality surrounding the detainee in every respect&quot; a prison official stated. When word leaked about the mysterious inmate, Israeli media began to report and speculate but no sooner had a handful of stories been published, than the coverage was shut down by one of the most comprehensive suppression orders conceivable.&quot;Hermetically sealing him away in all human terms, even within the prison, suggests that it had to be something very, very touchy&quot;, Warren Reed, a former ASIS agent tells us. Prisoner X, or Ben Zygier, a Jewish-Australian citizen, may have been a Mossad agent. So why would the Israeli service make him disappear? Warren Reed reckons we may never find out: &quot;I think this will probably be under lock and key for 50 to 75 years, if not never to be released.&quot; But as international pressure mounts, the Knesset has launched an inquiry. &lt;br /&gt;</description>

<media:text>French foreign intelligence agents are reported to have been mistaken for thieves during a secret training mission in Bulgaria. The embarrassing incident saw five French citizens set upon by local residents. Several respected French websites said two of the agents were shot in the leg and a third received a broken nose. Neither country has confirmed claims that the group were spies. &quot;Everything has been handled correctly by investigators and after we sent our questions, the French embassy confirmed the identity of the people who had been detained in the village. They were then handed over to the French side and they are not wanted for any crimes in Bulgaria,&quot; Tsevtan Tsevtanov, Bulgaria's Interior Minister, said. The five insisted they were extreme sports enthusiasts who were on holiday in the Bulgarian village, close to the city of Pleven. The incident happened in the middle of October and has only come to light now that the group has returned to France. </media:text>

The investigation into the death of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was officially opened in France. A court in Nanterre announced the investigation was launched following the deposition of a civil suit by the leader's widow, Suha Arafat, who suspects he died from polonium poisoning. The move was based on a report by a Swiss lab that said high levels of the radio active element polonium was found on Arafat's clothes. This is the same substance that caused the death of Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006.</media:text>

        <media:text>As it heads toward a House vote, critics say the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) would allow private internet companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft to hand over troves of confidential customer records and communications to the National Security Agency, FBI and Department of Homeland Security, effectively legalizing a secret domestic surveillance program already run by the NSA. Backers say the measure is needed to help private firms crackdown on foreign entities — including the Chinese and Russian governments — committing online economic espionage. The bill has faced widespread opposition from online privacy advocates and even the Obama administration, which has threatened a veto. &quot;CISPA … will create an exception to all existing privacy laws so that companies can share very sensitive and personal information directly with the government, including military agencies like the National Security Agency,&quot; says Michelle Richardson, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union. &quot;Once the government has it, they can repurpose it and use it for a number of things, including an undefined national security use.&quot;

<media:text>The West says Iran is making a nuclear bomb. Tehran says it's treating cancer. This compelling investigation gets right to the heart of the maelstrom, interrogating facts, falsehoods and shocking allegations. &quot; We have one million patients struggling with cancer and they need regular isotopes&quot;, argues Iran's ambassador for the IAEA, Dr Ali Soltanieh. Experts are quick to dismiss this reasoning, saying Iran's reactor at Natanz is, &quot;too big, too far from hospitals and too secretive&quot;. Yet in this report the former director of the IAEA, Robert Kelley, admits that the famously leaked 2009 IAEA document, supposedly offering proof of Iran's nuclear ambitions, is likely to be a forgery. Whatever the truth, Israel is growing increasingly twitchy. &quot;Israel must reserve the right to defend itself&quot;, Netanyahu has publicly announced. But is his rhetoric leading towards military confrontation? &quot;Once you make those kind of threats, you come to the point where you've got to show you're serious&quot;. Yet Ronen Bergen, an expert on the Israeli secret service, insists that if it had been up to Israel, Iran would have had an atom bomb years ago. He describes how during the 1970s Israel actively encouraged Iran to move towards nuclear armament. &quot;Israel was knowingly helping Iran to build the vehicle for a nuclear bomb&quot;. Despite current international pressure, Iran isn't shying away from fighting talk. The suggestion of heavy interference in their nuclear plans is met with a chilling riposte: &quot; We will teach them a lesson they will never forget in history&quot;. </media:text>

<media:text>The lead story, Iran's military has for the first time released images of a top secret US spy drone. The unmanned aircraft was brought down almost intact several days ago by Iranian air defense electronic wafer units. After the initial ambiguities and denials by the Pentagon, Washington finally decided to come clean on the loss of one of its most advanced and secret unmanned aircraft over Iran. The RQ-170 sentinel, built by Lockheed Martin Cooperation has been designed for top secret spying missions. Its radar-absorbent skin has been designed to make it literally invisible to even the most sophisticated radars in operation today. They spy drone was used to eavesdrop on Osama bin Laden's hideout in Pakistan before the much publicized US raid on his compound. </media:text>

The Israeli security cabinet unanimously approved a deal to swap prisoners with Egypt.
This news comes after Cairo reached a final agreement with Washington and Tel Aviv to exchange Israeli spy Ilan Grapel for 25 Egyptian prisoners held by Tel Aviv, including three children. Israeli sources said the deal will be completed next Thursday. Grapel was accused of conducting intelligence surveillance for a foreign state as well as inciting protestors to vandalize public property and government institutions. Meanwhile, the Egyptian public welcomed the deal and expressed joy while also urging caution in dealing with the Israeli side.

For the second time in less than ten days, the Egyptian negotiator was able to complete a prisoner swap deal with the Israelis. Egypt agreed to swap 25 Egyptian prisoners, including three children, for Israeli spy Ilan Grapel, who was arrested by security agencies during the January 25 incidents.

The deal is a victory for the Egyptians. People had expressed doubt about this deal, saying that Egypt's position was weak. However, this deal shows that we still have the leadership.

We don't care about this Israeli spy. What is important is freeing the Egyptian prisoners held by Israel.

The Egyptian spy, who carried out surveillance on behalf of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, traveled to several areas in Egypt to stir internal strife and conflict among the Egyptian people.

Guest, Male #6
He might have gathered some intelligence information on us. We need to exercise caution in dealing with this issue.

Guest, Male #7
We demand the release of all Egyptian prisoners held in Israel in exchange for this Israeli prisoner held by us.

Reporter, Male #2
The Israeli prime minister's office issued a statement announcing that the Israeli government approved the prisoner swap deal. The office added that the government's advisor will arrive today in Cairo to finalize the deal with Egyptian authorities.

Guest, Male #8
It's a successful deal. From a national and a humanitarian perspective, Egyptian prisoners shouldn't be left behind bars especially if they are held in Israeli jails.

Reporter, Male #2
This is how Egypt is looking out for its citizens' interests inside and outside the country. With this, Egyptian citizens will feel they are now being treated differently compared to before.</media:text>

The Iranian judicial authority said it is still studying the details pertaining to the release of the two Americans previously sentenced to imprisonment on charges of espionage. President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad announced yesterday that the two American prisoners would be released within days, shortly before his visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly.

Reporter, Male #1
The last appearance of two American prisoners was this past May, when Iranian authorities allowed the mothers of Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal to briefly visit them. The two detainees denied they had any knowledge of what is being done by the US government regarding their release. The bail will be arranged diplomatically through the Swiss embassy, which represents the US interests in Iran, with mediation efforts by Pakistan, which represents Iranian interests in the US. Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has been in Iran since Sunday, uncertain whether or not he would have a role in the decision to post bail or its value.

Perhaps the Iranian court chose the timing of the two Americans' release to coincide with Ahmedinejad's visit to New York for the UN conference later this month.
