Not far from Afghanistan, two people were killed and nine others were injured after a bomb planted on a bicycle exploded in Balochistan Province. The bomb targeted Pakistani security forces. Rescue teams rushed to the scene to begin their operations, while security forces cordoned off the area and started an investigation to catch the culprits.

The scene of destroyed cars is now familiar, as some Pakistani cities have recently been witnessing explosions. The latest was a bomb blast that occurred Tuesday morning in the southwestern city of Quetta, killing at least two people and injuring dozens, including three Pakistani security personnel. The bomb was placed on a bicycle and detonated from a distance as police were patrolling a main road in Quetta, the capital of the turbulent Balochistan Province.

Reporter, Male #3
The bomb seemingly targeted a vehicle belonging to these forces. The blast also led to the destruction of a number of stores and houses in the area. According to media reports, the blast was followed by gunfire. No party has claimed responsibility for the blast. The oil and gas-rich Balochistan Province that is surrounded by Iran and Afghanistan is frequently subjected to armed attacks by insurgents that reside in the province. The province also faces sectarian violence and attacks launched by the extremist Taliban movement.</media:text>

Eight people were killed, including three children, and more than 20 others were injured when an explosive device was detonated in front of a school teaching the Holy Quran in southwestern Pakistan. The police said the device, which was planted on a motorcycle, was set off from a distance in front of the school gate, in the area of Quetta in Balochistan Province. This happened as students were receiving their certificates.

Presenter, Female #1
The police began the investigation process; however, no group has yet claimed responsibly for the attack. Balochistan Province, located at the border with Afghanistan and Iran, is considered a haven for the Taliban.</media:text>

Twenty-four people were killed in a double bombing carried out by two people with explosive devices. The bombing targeted a senior security official in Quetta city in southwestern Pakistan. One of the two bombers blew himself up in a booby-trapped vehicle near a car belonging to Farrukh Shehzad, deputy inspector-general of the Frontier Corps in Baluchistan. The other gunman broke into Shehzad's home and detonated his explosives, killing a number of Shehzad's guards. Security sources confirmed that Shehzad was not seriously wounded. <media:text>A suicide car bomber attacked worshipers in southwestern Pakistan today as they were heading home after morning prayers. Officials said the blast killed ten people. The attack was in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. The group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing but Balochistan is believed to be home to many Taliban militants who have targeted worshippers in the past. Quetta's police chief said the bomber was apparently targeting a mosque but couldn't get close enough because the road was blocked. The police chief said that instead he detonated his explosives in a car parked nearby. The blast wounded at least 17 people. </media:text>
