The opposition Local Coordination Committees said that over 100 people were killed today by government forces' fire. Half of them were in Damascus and Aleppo. The Syrian opposition had spoken of shelling that targeted the Damascus countryside, especially the Sayyida Zeinab area, and of intensified shelling of several neighborhoods in Aleppo. As for Syrian state TV, it announced that Syrian forces stormed the neighborhood of al-Khalidiya in Homs, one of the most prominent opposition strongholds in the city.

Two suicide attacks rocked the Syrian capital. The target was a main branch of Air Force Intelligence in Harasta, one of the rebel towns in the countryside of Damascus. From an undisclosed location, activists posted live images before, during, and after the two explosions that rang across the Syrian capital. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that dozens were killed and injured, indicating that the fates of prisoners in the jail cells of the branch remain unknown.

Reporter, Male #2
In a statement it issued, the al-Nusra Islamic front, said to be of Salafist jihadi ideology, claimed responsibility for the two bloody explosions, and confirmed that they came as revenge for those Muslims who have been oppressed and killed, according to the statement. This front has claimed responsibility in the past for a number of attacks, the last of which was in Saadallah al-Jabiri Square in Aleppo.

Areas in Homs Province witnessed developments on the ground, as Syrian regime forces waged a broad campaign to take control of opposition areas within the city of Homs and the nearby city of Qusair. Opposition activists confirmed that Syrian forces are attempting to storm the city from three directions, indicating that the clashes are intense and violent, and are concurrent with the shelling of the city.

In Aleppo, Syria's second largest city, the neighborhoods of Bustan al-Basha, al-Haidariya, and al-Sheikh Khudr, northeast of the city, have been under heavy shelling since the early morning. Sounds of violent clashes could also be heard there. Regime forces resumed their operations in several areas in the countrysides of Hama and Latakia.</media:text>

In the latest developments on the Syrian situation, more than 70 people have been killed by al-Assad's brigades, who escalated their bloody attacks on Syrian cities using all kinds of weapons.

The most violent shelling was in Aleppo and the countryside of Damascus. Information was reported that Masyaf Salma in Latakia also witnessed violent mortar shelling, in addition to the deployment of armored vehicles around Khirbet Ghazaleh in Daraa.

Reporter, Female #2
The war in Syria is the most ferocious of wars, as al-Assad's regime uses lethal military machinery in its barbaric attacks, which are determined to eliminate everything in sight, from humans to stones. However, the revolutionaries' steadfastness prevailed over al-Assad's front.

Reporter, Female #2
In Damascus, the regime's forces shelled the town of al-Otaiba in the countryside of Damascus. It was noted that dozens of various shells fell. Regime forces demolished a large number of homes with the residents inside. Whoever remains, lives on piles of rubble and destruction, and of memories that were stabbed by the knives of oppression, shelling, and arrests.

Reporter, Female #2
In return, the regime's army raided the towns of al-Thiabia and Yelda, and renewed rocket shelling on the cities of Douma, Zamalka, and Yabroud, amid a campaign of raids and arrests in the city of al-Sabina.

Reporter, Female #2
The governorate of Aleppo and its countryside witnessed renewed rocket and warplane shelling on the neighborhoods of al-Maadi, al-Marji, al-Ithaa, and the towns of Kafar Halab, Hayan, Tukad, and on the neighborhood of al-Sheikh, Qasr and al-Halak. A number of victims fell, and several homes were destroyed in the neighborhood of al-Shaar in the city of Aleppo.

Reporter, Female #2
And for the 10th day, the families of Homs al-Qadeema woke up to the sound of death hitting their homes, taking their last breaths, as al-Assad's rockets violently shelled the neighborhoods of Jobar, al-Sultaniyah, and the area of Nefaira.

Reporter, Female #2
Meanwhile, rocket and missile shelling was renewed on the city of al-Rastan in the countryside of Homs, coinciding with violent clashes at the northern front between the Free army and the regime's army, following an attempt to raid the city.

Reporter, Female #2
And in the countryside of Homs, violent shelling was renewed on the city of Qusayr, which led to the killing of three martyrs, and a number of wounded. In Daraa, the town of Abtaa and the city of al-Sheikh Mesaiken were subject to violent rocket shelling and clashes between the Free army and the regime's army. Rocket shelling was also renewed on the cities of Omm Weld, al-Karat al-Sharqi, al-Taibeh, Dael, Mahaja, and the area of Wadi al-Yarmouk.

Reporter, Female #2
The regime's army raided the border area of Wadi al-Qusayr, and tanks cordoned off Khirbet Ghazaleh. On the other hand, the countryside of Deir az-Zour witnessed heavy shelling by warplanes, which was also seen in the countryside of Latakia. Meanwhile, in an unprecedented move by the Free Syrian Army, the brigades and battalions in the western countryside of Aleppo were united under the title "Al-Mutasem Billah Brigades," which includes a number of units.</media:text>

From al-Qusayr in Syria, Abdul Ghani Jawhar resurfaced on the scene as conflicting reports on his fate emerged. Two days ago, New TV reported the killing of Jawhar, and we continue to monitor the story today from its starting point in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp. My colleague Ghadi Francis reports.

Reporter, Female #2
The man in this picture is a dangerous expert. Lebanese intelligence spent four years looking for him. Abdul Ghani Jawhar, a native of the town of Tebnine in Akkar district, is the mastermind of the terrorist attacks in al-Tal and Bahsas in Tripoli that targeted the Lebanese Army's convoys in 2008. In Syria, he allegedly bombed the Damascus suburb of al-Qazzaz in the same year, according to confessions aired on Syrian TV at the time.

Guest, Male #1
He is also known as Abu Hajir, a Lebanese citizen from northern Lebanon. I think he's from Akkar, or Tripoli; he is responsible for the bombing in Syria. He is an expert in explosives and affiliated to Fatah al-Islam.

Reporter, Female #2
The name of the man behind the explosion also appeared in the case of parliamentarian Walid Eido's assassination and a number of other bombings. Today, after having disappeared from the news, he was reportedly killed in clashes in the Syrian town of al-Qusayr, where confrontations between the Syrian army and the Free Syrian Army are ongoing. Another version of this story says he was killed while preparing explosive devices. Syrian government institutions informed their Lebanese counterparts of his killing. It has been confirmed that he had infiltrated Syria from his last refuge in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp.

Guest, Male #2 (Colonel Mahmoud Issa, Leader of the Palestinian Armed Struggle in Lebanon)
There was information that he escaped the Ain al-Hilweh camp around two months after the Nahr al-Bared incidents. Some say that based on his family's reaction and his neighborhood's reaction that he was indeed killed in Syria. We can't be sure until we see the body.

Reporter, Female #2
We went from the house of the former commander of the armed struggle to the house of Abu Tarek Saadi, the leader of Osbat al-Ansar, who refused to speak directly to the camera. He insisted that he has repeatedly reiterated to the security institutions that no one with this name exists in the camp, and that his organization, Osbat al-Ansar, is the only representative of the Islamist movement. He added that he is the son of al-Qaeda. But at the same time, he did not deny the presence of wanted al-Qaeda member Tawfiq Taha. It is said that Jawhar, also known as Abu Hajar, used to accompany Taha to the Islamists' stronghold in the neighborhood of al-Tawarek.

Reporter, Female #2
New TV followed-up on this issue and discovered his former name. According to information we obtained, Jawhar's presence here does not mean he was active, since his previous role was to train his supporters to make explosives and bombs, in addition to carrying out operations. After a day of searching in the alleys said to be his strongholds, it seems that Jawhar was hiding in Ain al-Hilweh without any public and clear activities or initiations. However, security sources won't confirm he's been killed until they see his body. From Ain al-Hilweh, Ghadi Francis, New TV.
