Protests in the news are often political in nature, as groups of citizens voice their disagreement or dissatisfaction. Protests can also be individual gestures, such as a hunger strike or an act of self-immolation. Famous protests include the Boston Tea Party, the occupation of Tiananmen Square, Rosa Parks refusal to give up her seat, Ghandi's Salt March, and the Arab uprisings of 2011.
