Mohammed Merah committed the 2012 Midi-Pyrénées shootings, which included the killings of three soldiers in two separate attacks, as well as an attack on the Ozar Hatorah Jewish day school, which left four dead, three of whom were children. He was a French citizen of Algerian origin. He died on March 22, 2012 in a shootout that followed a police siege on his home.
