Maghazi is located in the Deir al-Balah Governorate in the central Gaza Strip. It is a Palestinian refugee camp that was established in 1949. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Refugee Camp had a population of 24,284 in mid-year 2006. The refugee camp is built on 559 dunums. On the evening of Monday January 6, 2003, the IDF raided the camp and killed three Palestinians and wounded dozens claiming they were targeting militants hiding there. (via Freebase)
